Alan Neale & Friends to Cycle 103 Miles in Memory of Alan’s Daughter Sian to Raise Funds for Clear Cell Sarcoma Research

Alan Neale and friends Paul Stephens and Phil Goodman are going to cycle 103 miles in 2 days over the weekend of the 19th and 20th July 2025. The challenge will start at Alan’s home in Hertfordshire, with the peloton heading eastwards into Suffolk on the Saturday and then back on Sunday, to finish at Wimpole Hall in Cambridgeshire.

Alan says “I know it doesn’t sound very much, but for a bunch of new pensioners, it’s going to be a stretch. Not only that, but I am personally going to extend the challenge by doing a stint of 15 miles on my exercise bike on the Friday before and then finish with a 6 mile run on the Monday afterwards, to bring the very extended weekend exertions to a conclusion – after which I will probably need a stiff drink!”

Alan and Sharon tragically lost their beautiful daughter Sian, to Clear Cell Sarcoma on the 18th February 2020 at the age of just 30 years. Sian bravely battled for over 5 years, after having been diagnosed with this terrible disease, but the lack of an affective treatment meant she was fighting an uphill struggle. The research being undertaken at UCL and being funded by Ed’s Foundation, will help give physicians better and more effective options to treat the Clear Cell Sarcoma patients.

Alan says “Sian was an incredibly brave, gentle, uncomplaining soul, and nothing that the 3 of us will go through for this challenge will compare by even the tiniest amount to the suffering and anguish of Sian, Ed and others like them. If you could please support us, no matter how little, we would all be very grateful.”

We want to thank Alan and his family for the kindness and generous support they have given to the Foundation over the years we have known them and also to thank Paul and Phil for joining in the challenge and raising money to support research into finding a cure for Clear Cell Sarcoma.
